The purpose of the foundation is to promote the protection of the environment and the climate. This will be achieved by measures that serve to foster the production and use of green hydrogen and other climate-neutral energy carriers at national and international level. An important part of the foundation's work is to conduct and encourage research in this field. Focus is on research that contributes to rapid decarbonization of the economy. The independent Analysis & Research Division is led by Dr Kirsten Westphal, Chief Research Officer at H2Global Stiftung.
Currently the foundation is conducting the following research-project:
Green Hydrogen and Power-to-X: Opportunities and Risks of the International Market Ramp-Up for Developing and Emerging Countries in Cooperation with the Private Sector.
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The foundation’s topic-specific working groups, which discuss the crucial issues of the successful Power-to-X market ramp-up and research results, represent an important part of the research division.
The donors of the foundation are currently working together in four working groups:
The foundation expects the topic-specific working groups to provide both professional and practical input; allowing the foundation to provide knowledge and recommendations to the public and, within the framework of its statutory purposes, to policy makers in order to support a rapid market ramp-up of green hydrogen and its derivatives.
As part of the foundation’s analysis & research activities the following research projects are currently being tendered:
